Mrs. Phillips is currently the 6th grade homeroom teacher. This year she is teaching 6th grade religion along with 6th and 8th grade social studies. She has been part of the St. Francis Solano School community since 2001 and has taught 7th grade language arts and religion and 7th and 8th grade social studies. She was also 7th grade homeroom teacher for eight years. Prior to St. Francis Solano School, Mrs. Phillips taught grades one through six throughout Sonoma Valley which included Flowery Elementary School, Altimira Middle School and was lead teacher at Sonoma Charter School.
Social studies is a passion for Mrs. Phillips. Her classes are composed of PowerPoint presentations, related history movies and literature, hands on projects, drama and art. Over the years her 8th grade students have participated in the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest and have placed each year. In 2009 her students won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Additionally, 8th grade students participated in the Americanism essay contest and in 2010 took 1st place.
Mrs. Phillips earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from San Francisco State University. Additionally, she holds a Multiple Subject Credential, a Social Science Credential and a CLAD Credential. She is an active member of the National Council for the Social Studies.
Mrs. Phillips and her husband have lived in Sonoma for 29 years. They have three grown children and one grandchild who all live in Sonoma. Mrs. Phillips and her family are active members of St. Francis Solano Church.
