Ms. Smith has a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Sociology from Sonoma State University. She received her Multiple Subject credential with a CLAD from Dominican University. Ms. Smith is the Student Council Advisor and the Lower Division Assistant Dean. She has served on three WASC evaluation teams and was the Chair of the St. Francis WASC Leadership Team. Prior to her teaching career, Ms. Smith was a freelance writer. Ms. Smith joined St. Francis in 1997. She says she approaches teaching from the standpoint of a mom first. She uses humor and encouragement to inspire her students to do their very best. Ms. Smith has three children. Her oldest daughter is a recent graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in Women's Studies and is currently an intern acting as a reproductive health educator. Her son currently attends Sacramento State University and is an Anthropology major, and her youngest daughter is a freshman at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Ms. Smith enjoys traveling, bicyling, reading and writing.
